Ruth Cyrus founded Companion Care, Inc. in 1984 in Northwest Indiana. At that time while working as a hospital volunteer, Ruth recognized many patients needed care that did not end when they left the hospital. She found patients needed a hand with doing tasks around the home they could no longer perform. And sometimes they just needed someone around as a companion.

From my mom, I have learned that Companion Care is about relationships with people, not corporate profits or big organizations. Companion Care is about knowing when to call a family member to report a change in their parents condition or to assure them that their loved one is safe. Companion Care is about respect, knowing when to step in to help someone and when not to. Companion Care is about giving from the heart and learning from those who we serve. It is about making a difference in someone's life.

Our Passion

That is why I am passionate about the work that we do and I only hire employees who share that passion. This is the tradition started by my mother over 26 years ago and why we continue that tradition today.
