The History of Companion Care

Companion Care, Inc.

Ruth Cyrus founded Companion Care, Inc. in 1984 in Northwest Indiana. At that time while working as a hospital volunteer, Ruth recognized many patients needed care that did not end when they left the hospital. She found patients needed a hand with doing tasks around the home they could no longer perform. And sometimes they just needed someone around as a companion.

Ruth went on to create Companion Care, Inc. Early on Ruth made a decision that would define Companion Care as it is today. Rather than focusing on developing a franchise, Ruth decided to focus on the day-to-day operations to ensure that she provided the best care for her elder clients and the best employment opportunities for her companions. Ruth's business flourished over the years because of this personalized service. As Ruth's daughter, I have learned from her experiences and understand how important that personalized attention is in creating a positive work environment for our companions and in setting the standard for care for our elder clients. I am proud to be able to offer these services to communities in King county and Snohomish county.

Companion Care of Washington

Companion Care of Washington is licensed by the state as an in-home service care provider allowing us to provide non-medical services to the elderly in their home or other residences. (Learn more about Companion Care Services.)

Our areas of operation in King county include:

Woodinville, Bothell, Lake Forest Park, North Seattle, Shoreline, Kenmore, Bellevue, Kirkland, Renton, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, West Seattle, Seatac, Burien and Des Moines.

Companion Care services in Snohomish county include:

Millcreek, Everett, Lynnwood, Edmonds, Mountlake Terrace, Mukilteo, Snohomish, Monroe, and Duvall.

Companion Care strives to take the worry out of home care and to insure high quality companions are there when you need them. We offer this service at affordable rates in line with family budgets. Our companions:

• Are prompt and capable of performing their assigned duties efficiently, and
• Are compassionate and understanding.

Every companion is pre-screened and is required to pass a criminal background and reference check. Even more important, every companion has the organizational backup and support necessary to keep our clients fully protected at all times.
